This photograph features the Neptune Diner in Astoria, Queens—an iconic neighborhood diner known for its classic New York look and longtime local following. The exterior and sign ground the image in Astoria street life, while the diner’s pop-culture history adds another layer: celebrities including David Bowie and Catherine Deneuve were photographed dining here during the era of The Hunger (1983).
